Listening Diary 10 from podcast

  • Date and Time: I began at 3.56 pm and finished at 4.24 pm on Sunday, 18th April 2021.
  • Kind of Material: Podcast from BBC Learning English on YouTube entitled What to do when you can’t sleep.

Summary:

If we can’t sleep, Dr. Michael Grandner suggests that we should get out of bed. When we’re in bed and aren’t sleeping, the bed’s ability to bring us to starts getting diluted. Not just that, but dreaming, tossing and turning, wondering, and doing all of these things begin to take their place. One of the most important ways to prevent chronic insomnia is to do so. It’s also one of the really effective ways to treat it. It won’t succeed 100% of the time, but it will work more often than other people believe.

My Strategies:

I just choose the basic topic of the audio podcast that I like. And I finished listening to the audio. Then I write the summary. I re-listen to the audio to ensure that I understand it, repeat some parts that I don’t understand, and write down some sentences and main ideas. After that, I check the audio script to make sure.

What I learned:

I learned some new vocabulary and its pronunciation.

The difficulties:

There is some vocabulary that I listened but I don’t know what the vocabularies are. But, there is the audio script which I can see and read after listen to know what the vocabulary is. And, as usual, there is the part that the speaker spoke quickly, so, I repeat the part in order that I know what the speaker said.
